How to connect the rock band guitar to the ps3?
I know this has already been asked and i have read all the answers however the problem i am having is that it wont connect AND i cant find anywhere on the guitar to plug a usb into. It has been about 2 years since i have used this so it might be that it is busted. Can someone please type in the full instructions on how to connect a rock band 1 guitar to a ps3 so that i can play rock band 1. I know im being a pain but it would really help.
The guitar should have a connector that you were plugging into your ps2. this connector should have a USB connection (mine does) and this connection plugs into the USB port on your ps3. If there is no USB on your guitars connector, then I’m afraid your out of luck and will have to either buy a new guitar or hope that there is an adapter to convert your guitars connection to a USB. I hope this helped.

!Viva! Los Straitjackets $17.98 The Shadows/Ventures of the ’90s arrive as a quarter in Mexican wrestling masks, burgundy turtlenecks, black jeans, black Converse and bedecked in silver sun pendants. Live los Straitjackets effect an inscrutable demeanor and rock from a stage uncluttered with monitors. Because they actually listen to each other, the drummer sits in their midst at the stage’s edge. The band is tight, fused and rocking. For me, there is no better guitar-based instrumental rock album of 1997. ~ Tom Schulte, Rovi |

#1 Record/Radio City [Bonus Tracks] $18.98 A two-fer combining Big Star’s first and second albums, #1 Record/Radio City remains a definitive document of early-’70s American power pop and a virtual blueprint for much of the finest alternative rock that came after it. The lone Big Star record to merit the full participation of founder Chris Bell, the brightly produced #1 Record splits the songwriting credits evenly between him and Alex Chilton (in the tradition of Lennon-McCartney). But from the beginning, the group is tearing apart at the seams: Bell and Chilton’s relationship seems less a working partnership than a battle of wills, and each possesses his own distinctive vision. The purist, Bell crafts electrifying and melodic classic pop like “Feel” and “In the Street,” while Chilton, the malcontent, pens luminous, melancholy ballads like “The Ballad of El Goodo” and “Thirteen.” Ultimately, their tension makes #1 Record brilliant. However, Radio City shifts gears dramatically: Bell is largely absent (though he guests, uncredited, on a few tracks, including the wonderful “Back of a Car”), allowing Chilton’s darker impulses free reign. From the raucous opener “O My Soul” onward, the new Big Star is noisier, edgier, and even more potent. Erratic mixing, spotty production, shaky performances — by all rights, Radio City should be a failure, yet Chilton is at his best when poised on the brink of disaster, and the songs hang together seemingly on faith and conviction alone. Each track recalls pop’s glory days, from the Kinks-ish snarl of “Mod Lang” to the Byrds-like guitar glow that adorns “Way Out West.” The much-celebrated “September Gurls” is indeed a classic — everything right and good about pop music distilled down to three minutes of pure genius. #1s…and Then Some $13.99 Three weeks before the release of this double-disc best-of-and-then-some collection, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, who as Brooks & Dunn were one of the most successful duos in country music history, decided to call it a day after 19 years, 40 singles (half of which topped the country charts), ten studio albums, and a slew of awards. While their announcement stunned contemporary country fans, recent albums showed the pair beginning to rely too heavily on their formula and not enough on new ideas. Still, as far as the industry was concerned, they went out on top. #1s…and Then Some contains 30 tracks spread over two discs and includes two new songs. Disc one opens with Ronnie Dunn and Terry McBride’s barroom and stadium rock killer “Honky Tonk Stomp,” which opens the set with special guest guitar blazer Billy Gibbonsof ZZ Top, and disc two opens with the pair’s own “Indian Summer,” a midtempo ballad that’s as fine a summation of their collective career as listeners are likely to get. Dozens of familiar cuts are here, from their first smash “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” to the gorgeous cover of B.W. Stevenson’s “My Maria” and a slew of other hits and B-sides — including “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” and “If You See Him/If You See Her,” both with Reba McEntire. While it’s true that many of these tracks have been collected on the two previous hits collections, this is the first time that all the number ones have been in one place, and it’s the best argument there is for the legacy they leave behind. Remember, this duo originally consisted of two solo artists who became a group as the result of an arranged marriage by their record company; the combination worked better than anyone ever dreamed. They may return to being solo acts (Dunn has written for a slew of country artists over the years), but with greatly expanded musical palettes and media-savvy aesthetics because of their longstanding relationship. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi |

#3 [Bonus Tracks] $12.99 Like Beck in his ’90s prime, Suburban Kids with Biblical Names have no respect for musical boundaries. If they think a mixture of African-styled highlife-guitars, electronic beats, and ukuleles is a good idea for an indie pop song, they won’t hesitate to put it on record. The result? Wonderful. #3 includes former EP A-side “Funeral Face,” and just listen to the opening of “Peter’s Dream”: within mere seconds they combine Kraftwerk-styled percussion with a guitar that sounds exactly like Hank Marvin anno 1960, and it could hardly have sounded more right. On “Seems to Be on My Mind,” the distorted vocals and shuffly beat almost make them sound classic rock cool, before it breaks into a singalong chorus echoing the kind of pop like they used to make between the world wars. And so it goes on and on, genres and styles meet and ultimately converge through the unusually strong pop songwriting that always lies at the core of the album. No song gets boring, ever. Suburban Kids with Biblical Names sure do possess the geeky charm so beloved in indie and lo-fi circles. Classic one-liners like “there’s a Falcon Crest side to everything” and “I wanna turn all their dancefloors into a burning inferno of ba ba ba” are the stuff dreams are made of for any indie pop aficionado. But don’t let the spectacles and the wit fool you. There’s nothing amateurish about the kids’ performance at any point; in fact, the instrumental performances and the creative and crystal clear production are among the most impressive things about this album. Seldom do debut albums come as truly wonderful as this one. [The U.S. edition of the album adds two extra tracks: Love Will" and "Trumpets and Violins".] ~ Anders Kaasen, Rovi |

”Just another one of God’s gifts”: Prince, African-American masculinity, and the sonic legacy of the eighties. $49.99 The popular recording artist Prince is known for his ability to fuse musical styles considered mutually exclusive on the basis of race—funk and new-wave, R&B and hard rock. Prince has also made a name for himself by moving between different identities—sexual savant, devout man of god, androgynous sprite—a strategy that fit the 1980s, an era of shifting identity politics. This dissertation expands on previous scholarly work, which has claimed Prince as a quintessentially “post-modern” figure, by showing how his music manifests a history of the struggle for African-American self-representation. As an artist well versed in American pop history and deeply engaged with the black church, Prince was bringing the liberatory strategies of African-American culture to bear even as he de-constructed gender and sexuality. This dissertation takes a fresh approach to the question of music and identity: by analyzing Prince’s music with an ear for particular genre references, I present a snapshot of racial politics, music, and American society during a time period that few scholars have yet addressed. Musical genre is the discursive arena in which popular musicians navigate identity and history, and in each of my chapters I have focused on how Prince manipulates genre references, taking instrumental idioms as the signifiers of genre and identity. My introduction considers Prince’s use of the guitar, a “white” rock instrument; chapter one deals with keyboard synthesizers, and how Prince blended R&B horn idioms with new-wave music; chapter two discusses the relationship between funk drumming and black identity, exploring Prince’s symphonic transformations of the funk and his ambivalence to hip-hop. Chapter three connects Prince’s vocal styles to gospel music and the cosmology of the black church; and chapter four details how Prince re-integrated horns into his music, engaging with jazz and R&B as a way to reclaim black musical history. ‘89 Live in Japan $9.99 Sometime in 1992/1993 a revamped Quiet Riot featuring vocalist Kevin DuBrow with Bob Rondinelli on drums (around this time Rondinelli had also filled in on an Aerosmith gig one night when Joey Kramer wasn’t available — call him Mr. Fill-In) performed at a little-known club in Billerica, Massachusetts called Mr. Tipps. It is one of those suburban gigs we call “the last rung on the rock & roll ladder” and it’s a pity because Quiet Riot had more than just a clever name, and more than the cachet of being the professional birthplace of guitar wizard Randy Rhodes. To those who don’t know the story, DuBrow faced a mutiny by the band he founded and Pasha Records released an album in 1988 with two different members, titling the disc, interestingly enough, after the first Japanese release by the original group. This DVD, ‘89 Live in Japan, comes from that strange lineup in between and features vocalist Paul Shortino of the group Rough Cutt as well as bassist Sean McNabb and an uncredited Jimmy Waldo — keyboard player from the groups New England and Alcatraz. Why Waldo is treated like a hired hand is one of those unique situations which seemed to develop after Flo & Eddie called Mountain’s organ player Steve Knight “the most useless man in rock & roll.” The statement was far from accurate, of course, but it was humorous and Mott the Hoople and Aerosmith would both push keyboardists to the side and pretty much off-stage after that infamous quip. Though the 1988 self-titled Quiet Riot album faced horrible reviews and little or no commercial acceptance, this DVD is actually quite enjoyable. As a live band, Q.R. had that long-hair-’80s-thing down pat. What replaces original vocalist DuBrow’s personality is a very slick and well-executed heavy metal show. “Stay With Me Tonight” might not be a rock & roll classic, but it comes off well live and along with the nine in-concert tracks there is a bonus of the video shot for “Stay With Me.” This is no mere clone band going t… |

…And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness $16.98 They must be putting something in the water over there in Iceland that makes musicians work in unexpected ways. Their biggest pop and rock exports — Bj? rk and Sig? r Ros, respectively — have borne very little relation to what the rest of the world thinks of as pop and rock, so why should their most promising young neo-classical composer be any different? At an age when most young men are still trying to decide between grad school and the night shift at Denny’s, Olafur Arnalds has already made a name for himself as a musical maverick who skirts the edges of the classical, rock, electronic, and avant-garde worlds with enthusiastic ease, a Nico Muhly with a higher tolerance for cold weather, if you will. On his second full-length release, Arnalds moves further away from electronics to embrace a more acoustically oriented approach centered on piano and strings. Electronics do play a supporting role — they’re simply used to enhance the atmosphere here and there, but in the main, Arnalds is creating 21st century chamber music here, as the piano makes simple, elegant statements whose harmonic possibilities are further fleshed out by the strings. And Arnalds may be a modernist in terms of pushing stylistic boundaries, but he still has some old-school, downright romantic notions about melodic movement — you won’t find any polytonality or serial music among these tracks. Arnalds prefers instead to repurpose old-school harmonic conventions in a new context, offering the listener a readily accessible emotional connection but still breaking new ground. And on the few strategic spots in the album where Arnalds drops in drums and/or electric guitar and repetitive motifs, the effect is not dissimilar to the headier moments of the aforementioned Sig? r Ros, or perhaps early-? 70s Pink Floyd at their most ethereal, showing the rock crowd that they too have a point of entry into this music. ~ J. Allen, Rovi |

…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead $10.98 Labeled as “anti-musicians,” named after a prayer to Mayan corn gods, and cause for press releases describing it as “set upon by rednecks,” …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead vies for that piece of scarred, post-punk real estate somewhere between the Who and chucking a whirring blender full of bolts straight into a jet engine. With this self-titled debut, the band will probably horrify the realtors. From moments of diversionary electronic tweaks to ones of shambolic, guitar-thrashed screeches (and sometimes both), the album realizes the importance of not trying to be important. The sound of bashing out unconventional “we hate something that we’ll make sure to mumble” punk rock without parroting any one musical thing is what — if anything — ties these eight songs together. And for good reason. Few bands can sound like such a rightful mess. The band has been lumped in with fellow rock unapologists Queens of the Stone Age and At the Drive-In, but this self-titled debut album is a caustic, fidgety yelp that almost belies its out-and-out intelligence. One of the band’s news stories might have said it best: “The band defended themselves with their instruments, which are now destroyed.” ~ Dean Carlson, Rovi |

…As It Never Was $15.98 The more musical and nuanced bands in extreme metal do not live by volume and brute force alone. Those are the bands that have enough going on melodically and harmonically that they would still sound good even if they opted to unplug and perform in an acoustic environment — which, in fact, is exactly what Eluveitie did when they recorded Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion in late 2008. Minus the crunching metal guitar they usually favor, Eluveitie provided an acoustic-oriented folk-rock album that wasn’t as heavy or hard-driving as their other releases, but was quite edgy nonetheless. Everything Remains (As It Never Was), however, marks their return to full-fledged metal, and the blend of forcefulness and musicality that served them well on previous electric albums also serves them well this time. The Swiss folk metal/melodic death metal unit’s interest in Medieval and Celtic music goes beyond the superficial; it is an integral part of what Eluveitie does. So on Everything Remains (As It Never Was), bruising metal guitar, thrashiness, and death metal-growling vocals are right at home with flutes, pipes, whistles, and other instruments traditionally used in European folk. This is an excellent CD that manages to be dark, menacing, and enchanting at the same time. Granted, Eluveitie’s blend of death metal and Euro-folk elements won’t appeal to death metal purists, but for those who do appreciate folk metal, Everything Remains (As It Never Was) is exactly what the Medieval doctor ordered. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi |

…Tick…Tick…Tick $15.98 Songwriter Steve Wynn, the former Dream Syndicate frontman, has been on a tear since 1996 when he offered Melting in the Dark. Since then, his records have featured howling, wailing rock & roll and deep, dark acoustic reflections — all of them bearing his trademark noir-ish lyrics that offer the shadowy side of life, love, and violence. He’s employed a variety of musicians, and they’ve always sounded like hired guns. On …Tick…Tick…Tick he’s got himself a real band. They’re all younger than he is, and they have the hunger it takes to really execute Wynn’s unique songs. Start with drummer Linda Pitmon, who acts as co-producer (along with Wynn and Craig Schumacher) on these sides. Add to this the fact that the entire band (including Dave DeCastro on bass and guitarist Jason Victor) plots the arrangements. Wynn’s willful loss of total control has benefited him in spades. The set jumps out of the gate howling with “Wired,” where it sounds as if Wynn is singing through a megaphone. It’s followed by the creepy rocker “Cindy, It Was Always You,” co-written with ? ber hard-boiled crime fiction novelist George Pelecanos. On “Killing Me,” Wynn employs Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” guitar riff and mutates it into something utterly unhinged.
