what are some basic guitar exercises and beginner guitar tricks?

keep it as simple as possible for me please Ive been playing for about 4-5 months.

Scales are fine and dandy, but I’d concentrate on the pentatonic scale…it’s far more adaptable to different forms of music.

Learning hammer ons and pulloffs will make you a better and faster player.

Here’s a little exercise I Iearned many years ago.

Based around an Em chord

Play your first string (high E open..the string closest to the floor)
Then immediately hammer-on with your 2nd finger at the 3rd fret
Then use your 2nd finger to pull-off the string to bring it back to the open E.

What you’re doing here is picking the string one time only, then using your 2nd finger to hammer on and pulloff to get two additonal notes.

That’s a total of 3 notes with only picking the string once.

Then move on to the second string and do the same thing…pick the 2nd string open, hammer on at the 3rd fret, then pull off to the 2nd string open again.

combine these licks.

Do the open/hammer/pulloff on the 1st string, themn immediately go to the 2nd string and mimic what you just did on the first string…then back again to the 1st string..etc.

Next do the same on the 3rd string second fret, then…
4th string 2nd fret..followed by an Em chord.

This is counted in 3/4 time

You can count it like this…1 triplet, two triplet, three triplet, 4 triplet

1___________trip______________ let
open E string…..hammer on 3rd fret….pulloff to open

2____________trip_______________ let
open B (2ndstr)…..hammer on 3rd fret……pulloff to open B

Etc..etc…get comfortable with this then work on increasing speed.

A Vision of Misery [Bonus Tracks] $16.95 After two fine albums straddling the stylistic transition between thrash and death metal, Sadus pretty much committed to the latter with their third, 1992’s A Vision of Misery. Really, they had no choice, given thrash metal’s increasing obsolescence and death’s simultaneous rise. Still, this move nevertheless resulted in one of two conclusions: at best Sadus sacrificed the key thrashing component that had helped make them special and somewhat unique; at worst it exposed them as carryovers from the bygone generation. Under either assumption, A Vision of Misery was hardly some kind of failure, with new compositions such as “Through the Eyes of Greed,” “Machines,” and “Echoes of Forever” epitomizing technical death metal, while not exactly measuring up to genre standard-bearers like Death and Morbid Angel. And, although they certainly lose some of their sharp claws due to the overall denser guitar sound chosen here, it’s actually the band’s increasing reliance on mid-paced tempos and repetitive riffs that winds up dragging down other selections like “Slave to Misery” and the way overlong but otherwise solid “Facelift.” Even so, for fans of Sadus’ habitually inventive arrangements and sharp dynamic shifts, there’s plenty on offer here. And note to the Steve DiGiorgio fan club: his mind-boggling bass licks and impossible tricks are still regularly splattered all over these tracks, even if often crushed deeper in the mix. Unfortunately, DiGiorgio soon accepted an offer to go off on tour with the far more lucrative Death, leaving Sadus in limbo for the next half-decade.
