Is it easy to learn How To Play The Guitar?

i’ve been wanting to learn how to play, but i have no time or money for lessons.
i know a lot of people say they learn to play by ear, but is it easy? or do you have to research and buy books and stuff on it? i’m not good with reading notes and i’ve heard of learning to play from the internet, but that seems really time consuming.
so basically, i was wondering if it was easy to pick up on playing the guitar just by ear and listening to songs? or would it be better to find a friend to teach me?

it all depends on the person, i can play by ear, i can just tune out the rhythm guitar, bass, vocals, and drums, its hard as hell but once you can do it, any song is easy to play
